The five stages of the X-IDEA Innovation Method provide the solid backbone to guide all the thinking and work activities in a project. At each stage, you get adopt a different mindset, do different things, and produce different kinds of target outputs.
X-IDEA provides an extensive range of creativity tools. Our X-IDEA Toolbox comprises a range of 150 analytical thinking tools and creativity tools with more added each year, making it easy to come up with wow ideas, concepts and solutions.

X-IDEA gives you conducive mindsets. Doing sound analytical thinking and great creative thinking is easy if you adopt one specific mindset that is linked to each of the five X-IDEA stages. This guides your critical or creative thinking towards the desired results.
The GIGO-principle (“Garbage in, garbage out”) applies for innovation projects, too. That’s why we make sure that all required inputs are ready at hand (in an acceptable quality) before we enter one of the five X-IDEA Stages or start the work on a particular X-IDEA Tool.
In each stage of X-IDEA, you follow three specific activities, e.g., in Stage D (Development) you Discover-Design-Develop . Each activity asks you either to engage in divergent thinking or convergent thinking to broaden or narrow your thinking.
X-IDEA STEPS Can you count upto 3? As you journey through the X-IDEA Method, you take 1-2-3 steps in each of the five X-IDEA stages to make sure that you do specific thinking.
It’s all-to-easy to fall prey to one of the many thinking traps that wait for you at different points of your innovation journey. But don’t worry: By including X-IDEA Traps, we take care to safely guide you away from common cognitive biases and process traps.
We ensure that at the end of your X-IDEA journey, you produce meaningful innovation results. We do this by specifying — and checking and measuring— the target outputs that we want you to produce in each X-IDEA Stage.
